Michigander. Bookkeeper by day; blogger by night. Some of my favorite things include: travel, photography, video games, sweater-weather, reading, and tea. The Harry Potter books are my favorite, and I can never have too much peppermint tea.

Hello! My name is Jackie. I’m a thirty-something mother of a rambunctious toddler, who finds sanctuary from life’s most hectic moments in cups of tea.

By Golly, Ollie! is a lifestyle blog that features a mix of everything I love: tea, books, and geekery.

Five years ago, a skinny black cat showed up on my doorstep. He was so small, I thought he was just out of kittenhood, but he was really a geezer with hyperthyroidism (and thumbs!). Unfortunately, he was also diagnosed with renal disease nearly two years ago, a condition that deteriorates over time. After spending the last five months carrying my cat to his litter box at all hours of the day (…and night), I decided to let him go. He was the hungriest, snuggliest, most chin-scritch-greedy cat I have ever met, and I’m glad he let me spend his twilight years with him. Rest In Peace, Biscuit— the only cat to not just merely tolerate me, but actually like me 🖤
The Star is about hope and renewal and healing, and I’m feeling it basking under the sun this morning as I sip the Traditional Lapsang from White2tea instead of writing unclaimed property letters for work. The letters can wait; this moment cannot 😌⁣
We were supposed to go camping last weekend, but we had to put our plans on hold. So, I’m steeping up Campfire Stories from @shopcallmesweetea instead. It’s one of the rare hojicha blends I willingly reach for. Paired with smoked Lapsang Souchong and marshmallow flavor, this blend is like a ooey gooey charred marshmallow. This is what summer nights taste like 😌⁣
Okay, so I meant to sip Spring Peach weeks ago, when Michigan finally shed her winter coat, but you know how time gets. So what if I sipped it in summer? 🙃⁣
A few of my favorite things this morning: glorious sunshine, windows flung wide open, this Ted Lasso mug, and waking up with Vanilla Mint tea from @topazteaco . ⁣
@shopcallmesweetea has been recommending this book for a while— Sex and the Constitution— so I put all of my other #currentreads on hold to start it. Is it just me or did St. Augustine project his own unhealthy relationship with sex onto the Bible and call it canon?⁣⁣
I met this month’s work deadline for the first time in about two years, and it felt so great to ease into the weekend without the anxiety of work looming over my head. I’ve spent the last two days putting my house back in order and reading, reading, reading. I’ve finished two books I’ve been slogging through since February, and I started two more last night. I usually have three books going at a time, which is probably why it takes me forever to finish any of them 😅.⁣
One of my absolute favorite @davidstea blends is the Bumbleberry Burst. It’s mixed berries against a soft, earthy pu’erh base. The blend includes blueberries, so the tea has a quiet note of pine too, and it’s like walking through rain-drenched woods. ⁣
